Richland Township is one of eleven townships in Benton County, Indiana. As of the 2020 census, its population was 562 and it contained 258 housing units. The township has a total area of 35.92 square miles (93.0 km²), of which 99.92% is land and 0.078% is water. It contains three cemeteries: Dehner, Earl Park and Saint John. Its name is a "reference to the rich land within its borders" and means "rich land" or "rich" in the local language. It is located on U.S. Route 41, Route 52, and Route 52A. It has a population of 562 as of the2020 census, and it contains 258 houses. It was named after the town of Richland, Indiana, which was once part of the state of Indiana and is now part of Indiana. It also has the name "Richland" in honor of the town's founder, Richard Township, who was killed in a car accident in 1894. The town is located in the state's second-largest county, after Benton. It's one of the smallest towns in Indiana, with an area of just over 2,000 square miles. It includes Grant Township, Jefferson Township, and Jefferson County's Jefferson Township. The name of Grant Township is "Grant Township," which means "Grant's Township" in English. The word Grant means "graceful" in German.

It has an estimated population of 1,716. It was the largest township in the state in the 1950s and 1960s, with 1,817 residents. The current population is 2,638. It contains three townships: Grant, Jefferson, and New Hampshire. It also has a number of unincorporated areas, including the towns of Center and Parish Grove, and Union, York, and York Township.
