Waikloa Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Hawaii County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 6,362 at the 2010 census, up from 4,806 at the 2000 census. The name Waikoloa is used by the local post office. The CDP has a total area of 17.8 square miles (46.2 km²), all of it land. It is located on the west side of the island of Hawaii at 19°5629N 155°4734W (19.941445, 155.792655). It is bordered to the west by Puako. Hawaii Route 19 forms the border between the two communities; it leads northeast 14 miles (23 km) to Waimea and southwest 28 miles (45km) to Kailua-Kona. The median income for a household in the CDP was $50,040, and the median age for a family was $55,222. About 8.6% of families and 10.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 14.2% of those under age 18 and 1.8% ofThose age 65 or over. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.15. The U.S. Census Bureau says the village has a population of 1,816. It was once known as "Kailua Village" and is now called "Waik Loa" by the residents. The village is located at 19.941445, 155.792655 (19.562929, 19.481445) and is located in the north-central part of the Hawaiian island of Kaua'i. It lies at a latitude of 19.6°N 155.4734, and a longitude of 155.7°W. The community is located near Puako, which is located to the east of the main island of Oahu, Hawaii, and is a short distance to the south-east of the town of Kailaoa, which lies to the north. The population of Puako is about 1,800. The town of WaikLoa is about 2,000. The United States Census Bureau estimates the village's population to be 1,716.
