Hartville is a village in Stark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,944 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Canton-Massillon, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. It lies halfway between Akron and Canton, at the intersection of two main roads, State Routes 43 and 619. It was platted in 1851, most likely deriving its name from John Morehart, a first settler. The village has a total area of 2.58 square miles (6.68 km²), all land. The racial makeup of the village was 96.68% White, 0.43% Asian, and 2.0% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. The median age in the village is 45.9 years, with 15.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 84.6% were 18 and over; 25% are 65 and over. It has a population of 3,329, with 1,326 households, of which 36.0%) had children under 18 living with them, 42% were married couples living together, 15.73% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.06. In the village, the gender makeup was 47.8% male and 52.8%. In the census of 2000, there were 2,174 people, 863 households, and 579 families living in village.

Geography

Hartville is located at 40°5744N 81°2023W (40.962207, -81.339822).According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.58 square miles (6.68 km²), all land. The village is located on the Ohio River, which flows through the town. The town's population was 1,071 at the 2010 census. It has a population of 1,081. The city is located in the Ohio Valley, which includes the town of Hartville. The Ohio River runs through the village, and the town is located near the Ohio Turnpike, which connects to the Ohio and Illinois Rivers. It is the only town in the state to have a post office, which was established in 1881. It was named after the town's first postmaster, William Hartville, who was born in the town in 1875. The community has a history of being part of the Great Depression-era New York City. It also has been known as "Hartville" since the early 20th century, when the town was first settled. The current mayor of the village was elected in 1978, and was re-elected in 2008. The mayor was elected again in 2010, and again in 2012, and is now the mayor ofHartville, Ohio, and has served as mayor since 2010, as well as three other times. The U.N. World Heritage Site is in the village's downtown area, which is also home to the Hartville Museum.

History
